Organizing Interactive Math Journal

by

Jena Simms | Wichita Collegiate School | Wichita , Kansas

Students get differentiated pages to cut and glue into a math journal. The journal can be added to and used as a resource throughout the year. Also, students can track their progress by using different colors to symbolize difficulty of work while staying organized.

This is how I organize my interactive math journal. Students each receive a notebook that looks like this, and throughout the year I give them a color. And, so you see I have four colors right now going on over at my math journal center. And, each journal also has a folder. So, I have their name at the top. And, if they do not complete that interactive math journal page they put it in here. And, they can kind of keep all of those loose pieces in a folder. The other thing that’s great about this Center is, that I can differentiate between colors. So, blue is my high group and so this group usually has harder pages than red or yellow group, which are my lower groups. After they get their page they always, they know that they write, they cut, and then they glue. And, this is where we keep all of our pages at. So, at the of the year they’ll be able to take home this great interactive notebook. Try it in your classroom today.
