Outdoor Activity: Nature Color Hunt

Nature color hunt an activity brought to you by your therapy source dot com. The purpose of this activity is to encourage physical activity, motor skills, and color matching skills. You’re going to need paint sample cards or small pieces of colored paper. Go outside in nature or take a hike and see if you can find item in nature that match your paint samples exactly. We had some paint sample cards with a window cut out of them and this was a great way to encourage a child’s fine motor skills as well. As the child’s search for these matching objects encourage the child to reach high, to squat down low. Perhaps rotate the trunk in order to match up their color cards with the items in nature. If you have paint sample card with various colors on it, the child’s can work on matching the different shades within that color family. Certain colors are hard to find an exact match, greens are very difficult but finally we came across some that matched up closely. For more activity ideas please visit your therapy source dot com.
