Classroom Rules

In my classroom I find that classroom rules should be taught on day one. And then reinforced every single day through the very last day of the school year. I post my classroom rules on these cabinets. The beginning rule says, “Mrs. Simms’s rules.” I have five classroom rules, and I find it really important to use hand gestures. Because I find that in first grade, kids that use their hands and move, the information sticks on their brains. These are my rules. Rule number one: follow directions quickly. Rule number two: listen when your teacher is talking. Rule number three: take care of your school and classroom. Rule number four: treat others the way you want to be treated. And rule number five: it’s okay to make mistakes. Teach rules on the very first day of school. Reinforce them every single day till the very end of school, and you’ll see amazing results. Good luck.
