by

Teach for Life | Wichita, Kansas, USA

Retelling is used after students have learned something new. By retelling what they have just learned in their own words to someone else, the lesson is reinforced and the teacher knows what the students understand.

The Retelling method is used after the students have learned something. The teacher asks the students to explain what they learned, in detail, to someone else using their own words. Students can re-tell to a friend, the teacher, a parent, or the whole class. As the students are Retelling, the teacher listens to make sure they have remembered what was taught and have fully understood it.
