Teach for Life | Wichita, Kansas, USA

Students make predictions about what might happen in the lesson.

Read Transcript

In the Prediction method, the teacher asks students to make a prediction about what might happen in the lesson. For example, in a lesson about weather, the teacher might say, “Look outside. Do you think it will rain today?” The students might say, “The sky is dark and cloudy, so I think it will rain.” Or, “Yesterday it was cloudy in the morning, but the sun came out later. So I don’t think it’s going to rain.” At a later time, they check their predictions to see what actually happened. Making predictions helps students learn how to think about different possibilities and what is likely to happen.
