How do early finishers know what to do? Use a board with “If your work is finished, then…” and leave room to let them know.

Do you have students who finish early? I think every teacher has this problem. One solution is to come up with some extension activities and somewhere in your room place a poster that says, “If your work is finished then…” and leave down here either a written message, or what I tend to do is leave the page that I need them to do, if it’s an online activity something on their IPADS then of course I write up here, but, today what if they’re working on a spelling menu? So, I would just put a magnet and put it up here and that’s what the students would do if they finish early. So, you might want to try this in your classroom it gives students a common place to look when they finish their work. They know that this is what they could do. You could even just write the word read and then they know that if they finish early than they can go ahead and start reading from their book box. Try this in your classroom today!
